Greetings to RCME family !
January is the month of PHCC and we look forward to the five weekends of nonstop cricket, culinary treat and various fellowships taking place in the name of strategy meetings. We cannot but thank the founders of the carnival SS. Rajsekar, T.P. Kannan, Nammalwar and T.Muthukumaran for conceiving the carnival 30 years ago. In my view the Anns of RCME are the backbone for keeping it going for 30 long years. It’s no secret that many participate for culinary treat of Anns, rather than cricket. Gopal and Ann Priya, derserve sincere appreciation for spearheading this year’s carnival, in style. I thank all team owners for supporting this carnival. I personally could not participate much in this year’s carnival due to demise of my father. I thank and appreciate each and every one of you who have either come home or sent me condolence messages at the moment of my grief.
All other avenues are fully active with programs. In Vocation, we have Vocational Excellence award to Kalaimamani Smt. Priyadarsinin Govind and the Chief Guest of the function was none other than our honorary member, Dr. Padma Subbramanian. The chairman of the award function Sahith did a fine job. Thanks to Rtn.Natajan for sponsoring the award function. While still on Vocation, I received a mail, from Sharmitha Bhanu, in charge of nursing and paramedical course at community College. She shared how much she was moved by the program when girls from poor families bow to her in gratitude once they get placed. Her mail was very heart touching! We at RCME firmly believe that empowerment of people with skill is the way forward to uplift and downtrodden. It is for this reason another Vocational training center at Thoraipakkam was planned under the leadership of IPP Ananth. The center is due for inauguration on 23rd February, with brands such as Kohler, Indian terrain and fresh works, partnering with us.
In community service W2F 3 is going through the those of its finals as this issue goes to print. Prabhuram and VAR are doing a fabulous job. Magesh is also busy with Public Art Festival named DAMned ART. Under the umbrella of Embrace the Rivers, initialed by Goethe Instiut, in which our club is and active partner. Our club was instrumental in sourcing Rs.25 Lakhs for this DAMned ART from Saint Gobain, thanks to Lanka and RAM. The first round of Pulse Polio was ably handled by our Krishna Prasad with the mentor Muthukumaran, guiding him. Four health posts with around 40 booths were allotted to us.
In Health, Vasudha and her team is keeping themselves bus with medical and blood donations camps almost every other day. Sujatha silently leads the youth service team with passion and inspires the Rotract and Interact chairman’s with regular program for the schools and colleges. Srinivasa Rao, the foundation chairman has till now bought USD 67000/-. Thanks to all the members who made this possible with their generous contribution.
