The Public health center is a 65 year old institution that has been serving the middle class of Chennai since 1953. The organization is very well managed by doctors and a dedicated elected governing body and administrators, most of them doing voluntary work. What is remarkable is that the hospital still charges the patients only minimal costs and continues to support its working through various philanthropic donations. There is no profit motive. This makes our contribution here even more meaningful. The centers old medical director and currently one of the Trustees Dr.M.K.Srinivsan supported our contribution by donating INR 25 Lakhs towards civil works for the operation theater.
The inauguration started with a staff of the PHC singing an invocation song, followed by President B.Purushottam delivering the welcome address. The District Governor then spoke the work done by RCME , appreciating RCME for its dedication and good work. He was followed by Dr.MK.Srinivasan who provided a very nice introduction to the founding and workings of the PHC.
