THAIMADI – TREE NURSERY PROJECT

Ambalapattu villagers in partnership with San Antonio Tamil Sangam, Rotary Club of Madras East and Rotary Club of Thanjavur South have launched “Thaimadi”, a tree nursery, which is planning to plant and grow 1 lakh trees in the next 5 years in and around Ambalapattu.

Ambalapattu is in the lower Cauvery delta region. It was impacted severely by Cyclone Gaja in November 2018. In the aftermath of the disaster, the villagers did a remarkable job providing post disaster relief. Now, they are carrying on their work by focusing on increasing green cover and restoring water bodies.

The people of San Antonio in Texas, U.S.A. have previously contributed significantly to post disaster relief in 2018 and played a key role in a water restoration project last year. As a continuation of their partnership with the people of Ambalapattu they have come forward to financially contribute to this tree nursery project.

Rotary Club of Madras East and Rotary Club of Thanjavur South have taken special interest in reviving green cover and water bodies all around Tamil Nadu particularly in the Cauvery Delta region.
